Varicose veins are enlarged, swollen, which appear as twisting, bulging, rope-like cords on legs often appearing blue or dark purple. More than 23% of adults are said to be affected by varicose veins.
SYMPTOMS Include
Minor injury to the affected area results in longer bleeding than normal.
Shiny skin discoloration near varicose veins, usually brownish or blue or color.
In extreme cases, varicose veins may rupture, or develop into varicose ulcers on the skin. These will require treatment.
A catheter is inserted into the patient’s vein. A small laser is taken and threaded through the catheter and positioned at the top of the target vein. It conveys short energy bursts that heat up the vein, sealing it shut. With the aid of an ultrasound scan, the specialist threads the laser the way up the vein, gently burning and fixing it.
The skin does not exchange oxygen, nutrients, and waste products with the blood properly because blood flow is feeble.
